Monday ride = Inspiration for the week. ⛰🍇🌳🔆It’s no secret I find it inspiring climbing up Mont Ventoux on my road bike, but there are dozens of other less popular yet magnificent rides around it, on tarmac & off-road.Today I chose to do the MTB loop I call ‘Le Tour des Dentelles’, starting from Gigondas. If you fancy it, you can see / copy the full Route (45km / 1049m of climbing) on my Strava (Mr Stubbleman) - Happy riding!1 - Ripe grenache vines high above Gigondas.2 - Splendid distant view of Mont Ventoux from the top of Beaumes-De-Venise, with the high fields of Domaine Durban.3 - Part of the rock formation called ‘Les Dentelles de Montmirail’, near Vacqueyras. They are so named not because they look a bit like old teeth but because they are full of small holes, like old lace (Dentelles = Lace)4 - As above, near Gigondas.5 - Trusted offroad steed and the end bit of the Dentelles.#grenache #gigondas #vacqueyras #beaumesdevenise #cotesdurhone #domainedurban #dentellesdemontmirail#montventoux #cycling #mountainbike#turbolevo #specialized#onefourtysixfourtythree #stubbleman #secondalbum #released2025#crammeddiscs#mutesong #playitagainsam #pias

Excellent read! ‘Good Pop, Bad Pop’ is a collection of candid stories from @jarvisbransoncocker’s formative years, told through a selection of strange and random forgotten objects from his attic.I hadn’t realised that there were so many parallels between his life and mine.To name a few:Severely short-sighted from age 5.Love for NHS Specs and Elvis Costello (who made us feel OK for being ‘four-eyed’).Raiding Jumble Sales to grab the most ‘interesting’ Polyester garments in order to create ‘The Look’ for ‘The Band’, because: a) It was cheap , and b) No-one else did it (for a reason: it made ‘The Band’ rehearsals VERY sweaty…).Taking photobooth pictures as a proof of my own existence (wearing the aforementioned garments).Recording Sound-On-Sound demos of ‘The Band’ on an old tape recorder (bought at a jumble sale, obvs) whilst living in a squalid squat, then hoping for ‘The Big Time’ that, surely, was bound to come knocking (in my case we were called The Church of Friendly Valley).Mind blown by Cabaret Voltaire’s ‘Nag Nag Nag’.And so on.It also brought back many memories of eighties Britain: the grim side -Thatcherism, the greed and the poverty……but also the magnificently creative community of young friends that fought from the opposite side: the fanzines, underground clubs & the alternative music and fashion scenes.-I loved Jarvis before, & I love him even more now.Really recommended.-PS: I have also a basement full of forgotten objects from the past…I might try and go through them this winter. Would you like to see some of them here? #goodpopbadpop#jarviscocker#catsandbooks#studiocat#nhsspecs#goodreads
